MasterCraft Boats UK were delighted to be the official tow boat sponsor of the London Night Jump 2009. The event was held at Liquid Leisure and was over two days of the August bank holiday weekend.
The events started with the MasterCraft Team towing the official towboat being the 'Nightmare Edition ProStar 190' through London city centre complete with a Sky Sports crew on hand to capture all the footage as the 'Nightmare Edition' passed all the major landmarks through the capital including Big Ben, Tower Bridge, Houses of Parliament Piccadilly and Trafalgar Square!
The action on the water started on Saturday afternoon with over 25 Ski Jumpers descending on Liquid Leisure from around the world taking to the water for a practice session behind the 400hp 6.0 litre Nightmare Edition ProStar 190. As you would imagine the athletes were impressed with the power and strength of the boat which had been shipped in directly from America by MasterCraft Boats UK specifically for the event, this along with the excellent facilities and conditions at Liquid Leisure is what promised this was going to be an excellent event.
The main event started on Sunday morning with the Ski Jumpers having the opportunity to battle it out and ski in the first round of the competition. MasterCrafts Freddy Krueger immediately put on an amazing display in the first round putting him straight through to the Night Jump Finals and showing the rest of the competitors that he was going to be the one to watch!
The Liquid Leisure crew had put on an excellent event with Britain's best FMX Motor cross riders giving the crowd a display of dare devil tricks with heights of well over 25ft and jumping well over the top of a MasterCraft X2 between the FMX ramps. Also on site giving the crowd further entertainment was the Animal mountain bike demonstration team who again put on an excellent display and had the crowd going wild.
As dusk fell over Liquid Leisure it was all eyes back on the water to watch some of Britain's best Wakeboarders as they competed in a head to head battle into the night with some impressive tricks behind the MasterCraft X Star and finishing with a big air trick off the Kicker which saw Ben Hitch take the Gold over Sam Carne taking Silver and Lee Debuse taking Bronze.
With the Wakeboarding complete and the 7000 strong crowd screaming for more it was all eyes on the water for the main event 'London Night Jump 2009'
The fully floodlit banks of Liquid Leisure along with the fully floodlit 'Nightmare Edition ProStar 190' were ready for action, as so were our ski jump finalists. Those that had made it through to the final now had it all to do and cutting into the ski ramp at speeds of 70mph and going distances of over 65 meters all in the dark is exactly what had the crowd going crazy.
All 6 athletes that had made it through to the Night Jump Final made it one to remember as the atmosphere was electric as they battled it out for the podium positions but it was MasterCrafts Freddy Krueger who took the Gold over Scot Ellis in Silver and Britain's Damien Sharman taking the Bronze.
Congratulations to all the athletes that made the London Night Jump the event it was and we look forward to another great event next year!!
